CLASH Wrestling: 2011 Year In Review
December 30, 2011
What a year for CLASH Wrestling, huh? From a company standpoint, CLASH Wrestling saw some of the biggest crowds walk through our doors in 2011 than in any year showing proof that the CLASH revolution is growing in numbers. We presented fun times, had entertaining special guests, celebrated milestone events, and proved why CLASH is Michigan’s upgrade to your Independent Wrestling experience! Let’s take a closer look at just what 2011 brought us –
CLASH WRESTLING MVP – CLASH CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN OF GAVIN QUINN CONTINUES ON
At this point, there are no doubts that current CLASH Champion, “GQ” Gavin Quinn was an MVP player in 2011. His impressive title reign now extends over a year (longer than any other CLASH Champion) with several marquee name talent under his belt. The likes of Mena Libra, Cameron Skyy, X-Pac, Petey Williams, Jimmy Jacobs, “Swagg Starr” Dave Manzo, and the Wreckingball have fallen prey to Quinn’s impeccable winning streak. Year 2012 is on its way and Gavin Quinn has possibly his most challenging bout to date as we’ll see Triple Threat action as he defends against Petey Williams and “Murderous Monk” J. Miller on January 21st, 2012!
MOTY (MATCH OF THE YEAR) CANDIDATES
Of the many entertaining attractions hosted by CLASH Wrestling in 2011, there are several MOTY candidates to speak of. Let’s bullet point them for you to recall:
- “Mad Scientist” Tommy Treznik vs. “Swagg Starr” Dave Manzo (Antidote Ladder Match)
CLASH fans may recall the struggle over a super strength elixir concocted by Treznik gone wrong when Dave Manzo took a sip. At the time, “SuperMANzo” as some were calling him experienced super natural strength during in-ring competition that concluded at Seize The Day IV on 1/29/11. Treznik ascended a ladder claiming an antidote thus forcing Manzo back to normal strength.
- “GQ” Gavin Quinn (c) vs. Petey Williams (Non-Title)
On February 26, 2011, CLASH Wrestling’s new concept event, Contenders Cup saw an opening match that may claim #1 of the MOTY list. In non-title competition, Gavin Quinn managed to defeat Petey Williams via pinfall in the first of their two bouts that year.
- Cameron Skyy vs. Dave Manzo vs. Mena Libra vs. Sharkboy vs. Tommy Treznik vs. Tyler Elkins
As part of the “Contenders Cup” event, the point was to crown a #1 contender with six of CLASH Wrestling’s biggest household names. At the time tension was reaching a boiling point between Skyy and Elkins meanwhile Treznik and Manzo had just had an epic ladder match the month before. It was “Swagg Starr” Dave Manzo to walk out and challenge Quinn the following month.
- H3RD vs. Too Sweet (100)
At CLASH Wrestling’s 100th milestone event, the CLASH faithful witnessed a helluva Tag Team contest as Tommy Treznik’s H3RD w/ Ded Vaughn defended the Tag Team gold against Too Sweet (Bryce Benjamin & Joey Marx) who’ve been on a hot streak since their debut in July 2010. It was a celebratory night for those in attendance when Too Sweet claimed the victory with their 2nd title reign.
- Gavin Quinn (c) vs. Petey Williams (100)
Another classic encounter, this time with the gold on the line in front of CLASH Wrestling’s biggest attendance of the year. The 100th milestone event featured a superb main event as Quinn once again retained but brought about the surprising return of J.Miller to silence the champ with a “Goodbye Tooth” kick to cap off the show.
- “Sin City Sparklin” Cameron Skyy vs. “Caveman” Tyler Elkins (Cage Match)
Your classic good friends now bitter enemies story; this odd friendship pairing of the Vegas Man and Caveman fell apart the close of 2010 when Elkins cost Skyy the championship Quinn now holds. A back-n-forth feud that lasted nearly a year concluded in a victory for the “Caveman” in CLASH Wrestling’s first ever Steel Cage encounter on 9/3/11.
- Petey Williams vs. J.Miller
Most certainly, this match was a proving ground that J.Miller hadn’t lost a step since returning from a severe leg injury. Petey Williams took the win on 10/22/11 over the “Murderous Monk” with interference by Gavin Quinn. However, this match got us one inch closer to the reason we’ll see these three tango at SEIZE THE DAY V on January 21st, 2012!
MARQUEE MOMENTS
Not only did CLASH showcase some memorable bouts, but even a ton of marquee moments that won’t go forgotten. From start to end, here were some of CLASH Wrestling’s biggest moments:
1. Mena Libra finally defeats CEO Truth Martini in a singles match that culminated a year long rivalry at Seize The Day IV.
2. Impressive debuts of mainstays “Amazing” N8 Mattson and VH1’s Jenny (Rock of Love).
3. Wreckingball is terminated from his CLASH contract only to continue purchasing a ticket as a fan catapulting him to an overwhelming popularity. Lead to an “All Out War” rumble win, a championship match, and now an non-sanctioned bout at Seize The Day V.

We’re sure you can think of many more that we may have left out!
TAG TEAM EXPANSION
Over the course of the year, CLASH Wrestling has begun reintroducing Tag Team competition as a focal point again. Many can recall past battles between teams such as “The Friends” and a version of “H3RD.” In 2011, CLASH has reinforced the division with a breath of fresh air with teams that included: Too Sweet (c), Bump N’ Uglies, Victorious Secret, The Painkillers, H3RD, and Cameron Skyy & “Amazing” N8 Mattson. 2012 brings us a new year and new competition that will flood the CLASH gates, be prepared for some of the best Tag Team wrestling in the state!

Greed vs. Manzo Rematch Signed For Seize The Day V
December 19, 2011
Keeping with the tradition of announcing a new Seize The Day V match every Monday, we at CLASHWRESTLING.COM have learned of the latest addition to our Anniversary event on January 21st! Just last week we announced the colossal confrontation between Tyler Elkins & the Wreckingball that will be contested under No Disqualification, No Count Out Rules! This week’s match is equally heated as “Swagg Starr” Dave Manzo squares off with the accomplice of CLASH CEO Truth Martini, Dragon Greed!
Greed & Manzo have been at each other’s throats since August this year. Greed viciously powerbombed Manzo at CLASH Wrestling 100 as a sign of loyalty to Truth Martini. One month later at All Out War!, Manzo cost Greed his best chance at becoming #1 Contender. Then at November’s Divided We Fall, Manzo pinned Greed in their singles contest, infruiating the former CLASH Champion. Later that evening, Greed cost Manzo his spot in the Eliminator Series Final.
At Seize The Day V, Greed & Manzo will square off in a huge rematch! Which competitor can defeat his rival at CLASH Wrestling’s Anniversary event? There’s only one way to find out! Join us for our first event of 2012: SEIZE THE DAY V on JANUARY 21ST! Tickets are available, now, click here to get yours today!
