2010 NPCI WINNERS & NEW CLASH ACQUISTIONS ARE TOO SWEET!
No pun intended here, the 2010 NPCI Tag Tournament brought many unique athletes from around the globe, but it was the team of Too Sweet (Bryce Benjamin & Joey Marx) who outlasted them all last pinning Treznik & GQ to not only win NPCI, but were offered Full-Time CLASH Contracts who will make their presence felt on 8/14 in Dearborn, MI as they’re hot off a huge win! Who will step up to the plate to take on the newcomers, keep at CLASHWRESTLING.COM for signed matches as we draw closer!

OVER 1 YEAR IN THE MAKING – DRAGON KREED vs. CAMERON SKYY
If you’re new to CLASH Wrestling, lets catch you up… “Ace High” Cameron Skyy is a multi-time CLASH Champion whom was on a hot streak for quite some time stemming from 2008-2009 with the gold, until a man named Dragon Kreed entered the fray. Kreed built up quite a following with his intensity and continually running through opponents until the 2 finally met in battle. Kreed rightfully defeated Skyy to become a World Champion, and in a series of battles, Skyy was never able to defeat Kreed despite many efforts. In June ’09, Skyy and Kreed headlined once again, but this time a new alliance between Skyy & Elkins led to an attack on Kreed following their match, ripping Kreed’s shoulder muscles, requiring surgery & time away from the ring.
Kreed’s absence concluded upon his return January 2010, as he sought after the two individuals responsible and his gold. However, you know what they say about karma, as Cameron Skyy was shelved due to a broken forearm sustained at a live event in Chicago, IL. The two are now at a 100% recovery, and will meet – the be all end all, no gold, just a bitter feud that comes to a head on 8/14 in Dearborn, MI!

I LIKE THAT OL’ TIME “WRECK N ROLL”
Now, Wreckingball may not be thrilled with Will Vendetta’s cheesy theatrics as a partner, but there’s no doubt that Wreck ‘N’ Roll as a team, becoming CLASH Tag Team Champions, doesn’t appear to be a fluke! Yes, they are the oddest couple in CLASH, and Wreckingball has insinuated his disinterest in Tag Teaming with Vendetta, however Tag Gold will put a smile on anyone’s face. But, suffering a defeat via DQ to Night-Life (“Swagg Starr” Dave Manzo & Jack Night) in the 2nd round of the NPCI; this entitles the former Tag Champions to a rematch that has been signed to 8/14 at GRAPPLEGANZA! Can WRECK N’ ROLL prove they are not a fly-by-night Tag Team or will the more experience Tag Specialists Night-Life reclaim their gold?

WHO’S A CONTENDER FOR THE CLASH CHAMPIONSHIP?
This has been the puzzling question that upper CLASH Management including CEO Truth Martini has yet to address. Current CLASH Champion J. Miller is scheduled to be in the house on 8/14 but has yet been given a challenger. Most recently on CLASH TO THE FUTURE II in early June, the title picture looked a bit interesting as J. Miller defeated former partner/ally Tommy Treznik, however this brought out Cameron Skyy avenging Treznik from releasing him as Champion in April (media to which available at www.youtube.com/clashwrestling), inevitably then bringing Dragon Kreed out to dismantle Skyy for reasons stated above! So who’s the #1 Contender? We know Skyy defeated Miller this past NPCI weekend for a spot in CHIKARA’s Young Lions Cup, but does that constitute a title shot? These answers are promised to by Truth Martini on or before 8/14!

WOMEN COMPETITION IN CLASH WRESTLING
Well, it’s finally arrived, the females have taken to the squared circle in CLASH as of this year, and we have witnessed many talented athletes walk through the doors! CLASH Wrestling’s own Mena Libra has experienced the usual ups & downs with wins & losses here in CLASH, but the biggest hurdle seems to be a bitter CEO Truth Martini who’s initial stance on Women’s Wrestling was negative in CLASH. It then came out that it wasn’t Women’s Wrestling that Martini was annoyed by, but rather the success of Mena Libra. The most recent hurdle in Libra’s way has been Shimmer Star Nevaeh who has two wins over Libra. Does CEO Truth Martini have additional micro-managing road blocks for Libra, perhaps we’ll get more information on 8/14!

TOMMY TREZNIK HAS GONE MAD – MAD SCIENTIST THAT IS!
For his tenure in CLASH Wrestling, Tommy Treznik has always unloaded some of the most unique maneuvers on his opponents not ever seen by the outside world. His well renowned “Bus Driver” among others have scored him recognition in addition to many victories. Since the split of the H3RD, Treznik, now referring to himself as the “Mad Scientist of Maneuvers” stays up long hours developing new methods of destruction to his opponents using the squared circle as his laboratory. This can only mean “not so good” things for his opponents…

First Three Matches Announced For Grappleganza!

July 27, 2010

With less than 3 weeks away from Grappleganza, CLASH management has signed the first 3 matches for our August 14th event. The first match was announced last week at the 2010 NPCI Tournament, as Dragon Kreed and Cameron Skyy will reignite their year long rivalry one last time in Dearborn, MI. In the second announced match, CLASH Tag Team Champions Wreck N’ Roll will square off against former champions Nightlife. Both teams met at the 2010 NPCI, with Nightlife walking out victorious. Can Manzo & Night do it again at Grappleganza? If so, they’ll be two time tag team champions! In the third announced match, Keith Calhoun has demanded a match versus “Hebrew Hammer” Joseph Schwartz after their interaction at CLASH To The Future: Part 2. Who will talk out on top when these two men go face to face? Join us on August 14th to find out, when CLASH Wrestling presents Grappleganza, live from the Dearborn Elks Lodge! Tickets are on sale now!

July 23, 2010

At Night #1 of the 2010 NPCI, Dragon Kreed confronted longtime rival “Ace High” Cameron Skyy and challenged him to a match at Grappleganza in Dearborn, MI on August 14th. Check out this edited excerpt of the confrontation, which will be released in full on DVD when the 2010 NPCI is released in August 2010!

COLUMN: Striker Offers A Different Perspective On NPCI

July 20, 2010

The 2010 NPCI Tag Team Tournament is now in the books. I’d like to offer my congratulations to the team of Too Sweet who pulled out an upset and won not only the tournament but also CLASH Wrestling contracts!

We all saw exactly what it takes to win the NPCI, but you didn’t see what it takes to organize and arrange such a show. For today’s column, I’m going to take you behind the scenes for a look into what it takes to throw the biggest tournament in the state. Sit back and get ready to expand your mind as you go, pillar to post.

Weeks / Months Before the Show
Knowing the NPCI is coming up, the CLASH executive board has a series of meetings designed to determine who will be invited to the NPCI. Votes are cast, arguments are hashed out and voted on, and a final proposal is submitted to CEO Truth Martini. Truth adds a few ‘must haves’ and the board decides on the best combination of talent to both represent the best of the best in tag team wrestling, and entertain the fans. The venue, this year the Taylor Town Trade Center, is also reserved as the show date is set.

The Days Leading Up to the NPCI
As the NPCI draws closer, things inevitably change. This year saw a members of Beyond Wrestling injured and unable to compete; they were eventually replaced by MDogg20 Matt Cross & Jefferson Saint. There were teams with travel problems, and matches had to be changed. Specifically, this year saw the removal of the Jawbreakers and the addition of Cave-Manix and the lovely ladies team of Mena Libra and Sassy Stephie.

Arrangements were also made to bring in a support crew. This year we had a bolstered sound system, professional photographer, and high quality videographer.

CLASH management was also needed to assist the out of town teams in securing travel and sleeping accommodations.

NPCI, Day 1
Crews arrived at the Taylor Town Trade Center well before noon in preparation of that nights activities. The ring had to be transported, unloaded, and assembled. The entrance way and lighting needed to be set up. The sound system was prepared and tested. A space was set aside for the video camera and for CLASH Radio (which I highly recommend, by the way). Countless batteries were charged (digital cameras, video cameras, microphones, etc.), chairs set up, and banners hung. The merchandise booth was built, and the area was swept and cleaned.

There were still a couple of last minute delays or problems. Jimmy Jacobs had travel problems and was unable to attend. Luckily for CLASH, Petey Williams is both friends with Zach Gowen and lives within a reasonable distance and was willing to step up and fill in for Jacobs.

We also ran live commentary during the NPCI, so assignments of various announce teams were made, disputed, and finalized.

Aftermath
The NPCI has ended but the work continues on. The ring and set had to be disassembled. The sound and video equipment packed away. CLASH radio conducted interviews with Too Sweet and Cameron Skyy about their victories. The chairs were stacked and the ring loaded into a truck to be taken to storage. The last people were left at the Trade Center finalizing the clean up until 1:00 AM. But even then, there was still more to do.

The website had to be updated, tweets needed to be made, and status updates needed to be issued. Footage needs to be reviewed and edited (for example, the part where, during the Cameron Skyy / J. Miller interview on night 1, I called the NPCI the Triple Crown Cup [to my defense, I was just referencing the Young Lion’s Cup and I guess I just couldn’t get ‘cup’ from my mind]).

The audio commentary we recorded needs to be combined with the video and edited down to fit in the allotted time so that it will fit on DVD. Art for the DVD needs to be created.

With all that was going on behind the scenes it’s a wonder that we were able to have a show at all, yet alone one of the greatest wrestling shows in memory.

The good news, CLASH crew and executive board: you get to relax for a few weeks.

The bad news, we have to do it all again on August 14th as CLASH returns to the Livonia Elks Lodge.

Of course, this is great news for CLASH wrestling fans, as it’s another opportunity to see the best wrestlers around!

Thanks for reading, I hope to have enlightened and inspired you. Today I’ve taken you beyond the great wrestling you see in the ring. Today I took you all the way from pillar to post.
